I’m doing a thing…

They say that writers write.

Yours truly has been wordless (outside of work) for almost a year. It’s high time I get back on the word wagon. So I’m doing a thing.

To set myself on the straight and narrow and finally start tallying some sentences, I’ve decided to listen to all my records, more than 400 of them, one by one. To write about them, of course. I have albums in my collection that I’ve never heard, and bought them merely for the cover…or the producer…or the label…etc.

The point, of course, is the writing. When I hear each album I can write a review, or a story, or a poem or essay, but it has to be inspired by the album.

I made some ground rules for myself because I’m kind of ADHD and need some guardrails:

1. I need to be reading music journalism of some kind.

2. Articles must be brainstormed and posted by Monday of each week.

3. No help, no ideas, no structure or content generated by A.I. This is all brain-power, baby.

4. Don’t read other peoples’ opinion about this album. Form your own opinions!

4. Be nice to yourself. This is for your benefit not for self-punishment.

5. I should have AT LEAST 50 articles by end of the year.

That’s it. I don’t know if you’re a writer and love music as much as I do, but you’re free to follow along.

The rest of you are probably sad you had to read something so irrelevant.

Alright…I’ll leave you with a music recommendation.

If you haven’t heard Wednesday, watch this video now. They’re excellent…AND they’re coming to Savannah in February!
